As we all know this COVID-19 virus has spread throughout the globe since it started and it’s causing death and famine along with countries that have been hit hard with the disease. This pandemic is causing the whole world to fear and panic. Governments across the country are giving us preventive measures to fight against covid19. 

Here are some ways to prevent and fight this disease from spreading:

Stay at home. Shelter-in-place and staying at home have gone into effect in different areas. Staying in the comfort of our own home gives us protection and helps us stop the spreading of the deadly virus.

Avoid large crowds. Planning to go out? Social distancing is one of the effective ways to stop the spread of the virus. Large gatherings like church meetings, tour concerts, malls shall be stopped or closed. Research says that the virus can be acquired even when you are 13 feet apart. We might not know who is already infected so avoiding crowded places, for now, might be a big help for us.

Frequent hand washing. Hand washing regularly for at least 20 seconds is also one of the effective ways to prevent us from getting infected. And it must be done properly with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, the next best option we have is to use an alcohol-based sanitizer that has 70% alcohol content. Hand washing also reduces the risk of spreading infectious diseases.

Using PPE. Personal Protective Equipment is also a way to fully protect yourself from this pandemic coronavirus. There are different types of PPE – these include KN95 face masks, gloves, face shields, boots, and coats. Fear and panic are causing the people to purchase and stockpile masks and other PPE supplies. With the help of PPE, we can go out to buy food and necessities without acquiring the virus from outside. The shelves are already empty and PPE is a basic need in these trying days.

Prevention is better than cure and it’s true, we need to protect ourselves and our loved ones in these trying times. Make sure to follow guidelines and preventive measures given by the government. And also, in this time of crisis don’t forget to thank our front liners, the nurses, and doctors, our real heroes. Coronavirus will not last forever and great adventures are waiting ahead!
